History of the building
The building that now houses the Lviv Puppet Theater was built around 1914 as the Chamber of Crafts. Gatherings of all craftsmen of Lviv and the region were held here.
But due to the unstable situation that arose in connection with the First World War, after a deep financial crisis, many premises were rented out, the Chamber of Crafts was no exception. Entrepreneur Marek Pariser rented the large hall of the Chamber of Crafts and in 1926 built the Shtuka cinema here with 290 seats, and in the interwar period the large hall was given over to the Baltyk Cinema. Until 1941, the owners of the hall changed, but the cinema always functioned.
Nowadays, fragments of authentic stained glass in the art nouveau style and incredible forging are still preserved in the theater on the ceiling. There used to be a stained glass window behind the mirror. A lot of daylight entered the foyer through these two stained glass windows.
