A mythic poem by Lina Kostenko
Amid the vast steppes, where the night whispers through the grass and fireflies draw glowing paths, lives an ancient story about a girl named Marysia. People called her Mara, for she had two faces: one side shone with tender beauty, while the other frightened with its deformity.
Seeking acceptance, she sets out for advice from the Wise Old Woman and the Foolish Man, who promise to restore her harmony. Yet their magic comes at a price: the ugliness disappears from her face but settles deep within her soul.
This performance explores how the fear of judgment and the desire to be liked can shatter inner balance. Through a blend of puppetry, singing, movement, and symbolic scenography, it reveals that true harmony is born not from perfection, but from self-acceptance.
